Everyone is starting to be needed, people are needed to sell tickets for the dance, to collect bric a brac, to act as stewards on the day, to be there in the morning to set up stalls and gazebos and most importantly to be there at the end to put everything away for another year. Phew!

Only a couple of weeks to go! Everyone that can help out is most welcome to meet on the Green by 9:30AM on saturday morning, this is the stage that we need all hands on deck to get the tables/gazebos and inflatables organised and set up. If you can lend an hour then all help is appreciated.

If you are not sure and haven't helped out before then just ask a committee member in a dayglo jacket and they'll direct you to where the help is needed.

Donations for gala stalls/prizes can be left down in the village Hall from 9:30am onwards.

4-5pm we need help to put tables away and dismantle stalls so if you still around and willing to help we meet at the Village Hall at 4pm. The civic Reception starts at 5pm so we have a push to get everything done so that everyone can sit down and enjoy the reception where the prizes are awarded and there's a bite to teat and drink for guests and committee

 
 
The Gala Funds are in good shape this has been helped by running the New Year Dance. After the gala when everything has been paid, the gala members sit down to consider what to do with the funds. If your group or organisation would like to be considered for a donation then please get in touch and let us know who you are and what you would like the money for.

This year we have been asked to support Redstar Football Team/ Mid -Argyll Cubs and Ardrishaig Primary School.

A full list of the groups who have received money will be posted after the next meeting.
 
 
It's amazing how quickly we race towards July. We have launched an online competition, guess the year that Pat dressed as Bertie Bassett , it's a good photo because there's nothing to give away the year. Donations are starting to come in but you do worry especially when Findlay looks calm because he's usually in a panic by this time!!

The minutes from the last meeting can be downloaded and it brings you up-to-date with what's confirmed and how things are coming along. A cheque was made out to the Community Council for Susan Cameron's project to raise money for  play park equipment. Susan needs to raise £4,000 (costed by the Community Council)  for the park next to the North Church Hall for swings and things. almost a third of this money was raised by Lisa Bradley who ran a fancy dress disco at the Argyll Arms Hotel. So well done to everyone who has helped to make this donation of £726.00
 
GALA 2010 24/03/2010
 
Here we go again ! Anyone wanting to come along, put on an event or have a stall would be advised to bookmark the gala website where it will be updated and all the information posted in the run up to the event. We would be delighted if you would like to offer your time to come along and help. The next meeting is Wednesday 7th April at the Slainte Bar (7.30pm).
 
 
There were memorable moments, Fran & Jock nearly tipping into the water, cocktails at 8pm, Tiger Philand trying to be serious giving out the prizes, Little lily terrorising two King Charles spaniels, getting whacked on the arm with a shinty ball (sore - not to be tried at home)  but most of all - it just felt great ! Lots of people milling about having fun. Even a notice in the paper saying what a well behaved crowd and no trouble. Gala is about community and this community seems to know how to enjoy themselves. Never got near the pitch putting or the falling off a log at the Slainte but I heard it was a hoot.
